In an interview recently played on the Fan 590 AM in Toronto, Showdown Joe from “The Showdown” show spoke with BJ Penn. During the interview Joe asked Penn if fighting Sean Sherk was a mirror image of fighting Matt Hughes. “In some ways he is a mirror image of fighting Matt Hughes and he’s just a smaller…I think he’s just a smaller and not as strong version”, answered Penn. “But he actually in my opinion might put out a higher output because he’s a cardio machine and all those different things.” Penn was scheduled to fight Sherk for the lightweight title, but the fight has been temporarily derailed after Sherk tested positive for a performance enhancing substance. “I think that St. Pierre pretty showed the way, excactly what to do to Sean Sherk, and kind of just put him away because that night you could just tell Sean Sherk has no answer for that style”, commented Penn. “You stop a couple of his shots and he doesn’t know what to do from there out.”
