On August 12, 2005, Frank Mir was stripped of the UFC heavyweight strap after it was learned that he would not be able to compete against Andrei Arlovksi, the interim Heavyweight champion. Thus Arlovski was promoted to become the undisputed UFC heavyweight champ.
