Will Bisping’s Aggression be the Key Factor for Victory?

Coming into the sport of mixed martial arts with a well decorated wrestling background, Matt Hamill has been a takedown machine at 205. Hamill has had to work on the boxing realm of the game and has been steadily improving that aspect of his MMA arsenal. One of the holes noted by many in some of his previous bouts was leaving his hands down real low when engaging on the feet with strikes. While past opponents haven’t been able to completely exploit the openings left by Hamill, Michael Bisping is looking to do so at UFC 75 on September 8th in London, England. And he has the potential to do so with his ultra-aggressive style of fighting. While coming out wildly will make for an easier takedown, Bisping will unlikely be looking to employ such a strategy. He’ll be looking to pick the right openings to explode with strikes to try and take out Hamill.

A key component of Bisping’s game is his natural finishing instinct. He has finished all 13 of his fights in the sport, most of which ended in round one. Most top fighters have an aggressive fervor that’s on another level as well as a rampant desire to win; Bisping fits that mold perfectly. Those attributes will be pivotal in him finding a way to overcome the pit-bull-like wrestling ability of Hamill.

Bisping will absolutely be looking for a finish on the feet, and it can be argued that he needs to finish the fight to come out victorious. If this fight goes the distance, it likely means that Hamill found a way to get Bisping on the mat and control him for most of the fight.

Bisping has had a fighters dream when it comes to his MMA record—every fight has been a victory and every one has been a finish. It’s a testament to his talent and killer instinct. For Bisping, ultra-competitive drive, loads of aggressiveness in the Octagon, and a whole arena behind him will be his tools to try and keep that streak alive September 8th.
