5 Questions with Tristan Yunker, On Fighting Pete Spratt
Tristan Yunker takes on UFC veteran Pete Spratt on December 15 as a feature bout at the HDNet Fights 2 event in Dallas, Texas.
What were your thoughts on last fight and what did you learn from it?
Well, first off, I definitely think the biggest problem was me underestimating Rob, so I definitely won’t ever do that again. Other than that I just came out trying to rush things which is something that I normally don’t do, and I never-ever pull guard, so I just don’t know what I was thinking. It’s ok though, I’ve moved on, and now I’m training hard for this upcoming bout! Also, I guess I learned not to talk so much trash before the fight.
What are your thoughts on your upcoming bout with Pete Spratt?
Pete is definitely an awesome stand-up fighter, but from what I’ve seen my strengths are definitely his weaknesses. So basically I’m going back to my roots for this fight and I’m going to try to secure a quick takedown and work for the submission from top.
How do you feel fighting a former UFC vet? Is it any different or just another fighter?
Well, it is and it isn’t. He’s a 7x UFC vet, so he’s definitely got the experience of being in the big show, but like I said before my biggest strengths seem to be his biggest weaknesses, so hopefully I can exploit that.
Are you going to be doing anything different in training?
I’ll probably just be working on my takedowns a lot more just to make sure I’m ready to get this fight to the ground.
How do you envision the fight going?
Like I said…I’m going back to my roots! If this fight goes my way, I’m going to take him down quickly and hopefully get a quick sub!
