With the UFC heavily promoting Huerta, who was the first fighter to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated, fans are demanding greater tests to compensate for the increased spotlight Huerta has garnered. However outcries of Huerta being protected will be put to rest on December 8th when he takes on veteran and highly regarded lightweight in Clay Guida.
While Huerta, a Minnesota native, doesn’t give credence to arguments that he’s protected, he is aiming to use his fists to counterpoint detractors. “Look at the guys I’ve fought, look up their accomplishments. Guida is 2-2-0 in the UFC and picked up a win over Marcus Aurelio in August, the same night Huerta defeated Alberto Crane.
