Mir taking Lesnar seriously

While known to the mainstream as a pro wrestler competing in predetermined matches, Brock Lesnar is not being taken as anything but a serious competitor by Frank Mir, his opponent in February.

Mir is well aware of the wrestling credentials Lesnar will bring to the Octagon at UFC 81. “He won the NCAAs, got second the year before as a junior, lost by one point to Stephen Neal. Great wrestling credentials. I know he did the pro wrestling thing, a lot of people are judging him off of that, they need to realize this guy was a top wrestler in the country as a heavyweight”, noted Mir in a recent interview with rawvegas.tv. “Super-strong wrestler so I think he brings a lot to the table, I think he’s going to very much of a pain, he either pushes you up against the cage, he can get on top of you and ground and pound, big strong guy, definitely to take him lightly would be a mistake.”

That being said, Mir is confident his experience in the world of MMA will give him the ultimate edge in competition. “I’m more experienced when it comes to fighting, and I’m just going to introduce him to the idea of being punched in the face and what it feels like to get armbarred. So we’ll see. “
