How’d you get into the sport?
I have watched the sport closely since its start in 93′ but it has become an obsession of mine since my football playing days ended. I have always and will always be a fan of MMA. I got into the sport after a year of traning Gracie Jiu Jitsu and earning my blue belt at the Gracie Academy in Torrance, California.
How do you balance training, working as a counselor and working towards an MBA?
Balance is the keyword. During the day at my job I am focused on helping my students graduate. When six o’clock rolls around I trade in my shirt and tie for mma gloves and go to my 2nd job. Get home around 10 -11pm and work on my studies.
What lessons have you learned from the sport?
The biggest thing that I have learned from the sport is humility. I humbled everyday by my training partners.
What does it mean to you being the Ring of Fire amateur heavyweight champ?
I gotta fight whoever they put in front of me.
What are your short term and long term goals in the sport?
Short term goal–win my next fight. Long term goal–add more titles to the collection.
Joshua Noga defends his title for the first time on April 26th.
