Interview: CagePlay.com’s Marc-Andre Drolet

What is CagePlay.com?

CagePlay.com is an online MMA community that provides members with a 100% free fantasy MMA betting simulator. We allow our members to make picks and place bets on MMA events such as UFC’s. Best of all they can see how they would fare in a real betting environment without losing any money!

An online MMA community that provides fans with fantasy betting? How did you come up with the idea?

Over the years I’ve organized friendly MMA pools between the guys and kept track of stat’s and results in my own spreadsheets and databases. As the friends multiplied and the systems evolved it became impossible to keep track of it all. That’s where my partners and friends, Jason Kolbauer and Kevin Wollmann, stepped in and CagePlay.com was born. They’ve designed our awesome database and website that lets our members track their stats, place bets, have private pools, and so much more!

What are you some of the goals you have for the community?

Our initial goal was to make a cool website so our friends could track each others predictions and see who really knew their stuff. We’ve come a long way in the short time we’ve been around and so have our goals; we want to see how far we can take CagePlay.com! As long as we have members, we will continue to strive to deliver the highest caliber MMA community we can.

You’re a Winnipeg native. What is the MMA scene like in Winnipeg and Manitoba as a whole?

As a whole Manitoba has a small but established MMA community. We are home to Canada’s most experienced MMA fighter – Joe Doerksen. The UFC vet has over 50 professional fights and just turned 30!
The future looks bright for the MMA community here in Winnipeg. Rising stars like Lindsey Hawkes and Justin Barnard are keeping the local events exciting and drawing new eyes to the sport.
The 2 main schools in Winnipeg are the Winnipeg Academy of Mixed Martial Arts and Team Canada. The Winnipeg Academy of Mixed Martial Arts is owned and operated by BJJ Blackbelt and MMA fighter Curtis Brigham. Team Canada is co-owned by K1 champ Giuseppe Denatale and undefeated MMA heavyweight Rodrigo Munduruca.

Who’s the coolest fighter you’ve come across thus far?

I’ve met a number of great people over the years in this sport, and couldn’t even begin to list them, let alone narrow it down to the coolest!
What can we expect from CagePlay.com in the near future?
We are in the process of adding a blog, forum, and weekly podcast to the site. Most of all you expect CagePlay.com to continue to work hard to deliver the best possible community to you!
