Machida should be next in line for the Belt

After Forrest Griffin gets a crack at the UFC light heavyweight title, Lyoto Machida should be next in line for the belt. He’s undefeated, won 5 in a row in the UFC and has defeated Sokoudjou and Ortiz in his last 2 fights.

Other top fighters at 205 haven’t generated enough steam to earn a shot at the moment. “Shogun” is coming off a loss, Liddell, Silva and Sokoudjou have both only have a one fight win streak at the moment. That leaves Machida as the best candidate to fight for the title after the Rampage/Forrest championship bout.

Expect Machida to get a shot at the belt by the end of the year or early ’09.
