Matt Hughes expects experience to overcome Thiago Alves
Matt Hughes feels his experience will be one of the key components in defeating Thiago Silva at UFC 85. “Every time you walk into the Octagon it’s going to be tough on a young guy, this is the main event so his mind will be racing a little bit”, says Hughes in a UFC.com interview. “I’s going to get rough for Thiago, he’s not a faster starter, I’m hoping to take him down and wear him out before he even gets started. I’m the 9 time world champion here, he’s the guy that’s trying to make a name for himself.” As far as if people think Hughes is now past his prime and not the same as he was before, the former welterweight champ welcomes the concept. “If they think I’m a dead man walking I like that, I like that, it tells me that they’re a little overconfident.”
