Brock Lesnar’s coach mixes up training for Heath Herring
Originally slated to fight Mark Coleman at UFC 87, Brock Lesnar was thrown a curve ball when Coleman was sidelined for an injury at Pride FC and UFC vet Heath Herring came in as a replacement. His coach Greg Nelson had to shift gears and prepare for a more versatile fighter in Herring. “It’s an entirely different type of fight,” said Nelson in an interview with Fox Sports. “We’re just getting ready for an all-around game now.” While the striking, BJJ and experiential edge go to Herring, Nelson is confident that aside from the power and wrestling game of Lesnar, as well as his astute learning capabilities will guide him to victory. “It’s easy to work with a guy like that,” Nelson says. “He has a great work ethic and he’s a really fast learner.”
Lesnar and Herring tangle in August at UFC 87 in Minnesota.
