  1. Brock Lesnar becomes UFC champion. In his 3rd fight in the UFC, just his 4th in MMA, Brock Lesnar defeats Randy Couture to become the UFC heavyweight champion.
  2. Forrest Griffin becomes UFC light heavyweight champ. An underdog against Quinton Jackson, Griffin proves the oddsmakers wrong by securing a unanimous decision over Rampage and wins the 205 pound title in the UFC.
  3. Brock Lesnar enters the UFC. Although Frank Mir spoiled his entrance, the debut of Brock Lesnar in the UFC was huge news and drew many viewers to the UFC 81 pay per view.
  4. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira wins UFC heavyweight title. After being battered on the feet for 2 plus rounds, in the 3rd Nogueira finally gets the fight to the mat and chokes out Tim Sylvia to win the UFC heavyweight strap.
  5. BJ Penn becomes UFC lightweight champion. The belt that eluded him his entire career was finally caputured by BJ Penn. The Hawaiin choked out Joe Stevenson to win the UFC 155 pound title.
  6. Anderson Silva becomes undisputed 185 pound champ. By defeating Dan Henderson, Anderson Silva unified the Pride FC and UFC title.
  7. UFC invades Canada. For the first time in history the UFC comes to the Great White North and has a show in Montreal. GSP avenges his loss to Matt Serra on the show, which sells out in record time.
  8. Rashad Evans knocks out Chuck Liddell. Knocking out “The Iceman” cold, Evans becomes the #1 contender for the UFC light heavyweight title.
  9. Quinton Jackson goes on a road rampage. On July 15, Jackson was arrested and booked on suspicion of felony reckless driving, as well as felony hit and run after he struck several vehicles.
  10. Thiago Alves knocks out Matt Hughes. Storming up the ranks of welterweight, “The Pitbull” knocked out legendary 170 pounder Matt Hughes.
