Sean Sherk on dieting
I cut like 20 pounds so I’m eating as much as I can. Same foods that I’ve been eating, I don’t go off my diet until after the fight. Some fighters as soon as they’re done weighing in think, “Oh, I’ll just eat whatever I want”. I seen guys eat cake, pizza, drink pop. But my diet stops as soon as my fight is over with.
What he eats before a fight:
It’s always carbs. Before the fight I’ll just carb up, maybe 3 hours before the fight when we’re heading out to the arena.
On eating the same things (fish, chicken, same fruits and veggies, raw oatmeal, grapenuts):
I don’t like, it sucks but I don’t cheat on my diet. My off diet is steak and a salad, that’s my off day. I might put a little cheese and dressing on the salad. That’s consider an off day for me. It’s important, diet is huge and the hardest thing, training and fighting is easy, it’s the diet that sucks. So if I can stick on that diet better than other guys it’s going to show.
On his experience:
I’ve been around for a long time and know what works for me, a lot of trial and error. I do my research as well and I just try a lot different stuff and see if I like it.
