Question from a reader named Vidush:

“hey, I have had no formal fight training but ive been working out like a fighter for many years.I just entered a mma tournament.I could feel i was a much harder puncher and much stronger than the opponent but i was unable to land punches. How important is it to punch narrow because i felt i was throwing wide blind hooks .What are the correct spots to punch a person for a ko? thank you ”

Answer from MMA veteran Kit Cope:

“Placing your punches is extremely important. You should always try to land on a specific spot. If you just try to hit the head and miss, you then miss your opponent. If you try to hit the nose and miss, you still hit an eye or a cheek.
The specific KO spots are as follows: The tip of chin to pop the jaw loose, or the temple to rattle the brain.”
