UFC 99 Predictions
Wanderlei Silva over Rich Franklin
Silva’s striking has been more explosive and devastating in terms of KO power than Franklin’s. It could be Franklin’s time to shine under the wing of Anderson Silva, who helped the American train for his Brazilian nemesis, but until proven otherwise we’ll go with W. Silva on the feet. The two are going to slug it out and Silva will likely be the man still standing after the exchanges.
Cain Velasquez over Cheick Kongo
If Kongo had a better takedown-D I’d go with him, but it’s still a work in progress. Velasquez is a ferocious and tireless worker so he’ll likely get Kongo to the mat and the fight is his from there.
Mike Swick over Ben Saunders
Swick is too experienced for Saunders at this point. Saunders is dangerous but Swick has been in there with some solid fighters and come out more times than not with a solid victory. Aside from being overwhelmed by a bigger Yushin Okami, Swick has always been in fine form in his fights, save his uneventful battle with Josh Burkman.
Marcus Davis over Dan Hardy
Hardy has some good power in his hands but as does Davis. At this point Davis has had some really good experience fighting tough opponents and is savvy enough to defeat his nemesis Hardy.
Spencer Fisher over Caol Uno
Fisher has the striking advantage and can handle himself submission wise on the ground. As long as this doesn’t become a pure ground fight with Uno on top, Fisher’s aggressive and talent led him to victory.
