Jose Aldo versus Mike Brown
This fight in November will be a classic for the WEC. It’s not an easy one to call but I’m going to go with the challenger in Jose Aldo over Mike Brown. I think Brown is a terrific fighter who is good in all areas and has really worked hard and morphed into the champion that he is. To defeat Urijah Faber twice in a row is a very rare accomplishment. But I just feel the supreme striking skill Aldo has been displayed is just so devastating, precise, unorthodox and hard to contend with. This is a 5 round fight, each round starts on the feet, and that gives Aldo an opportunity to work his magic as each stanza commences, assuming it goes past the early rounds. But the point is that Aldo is so quick in his attack that he just needs a few mere seconds to launch and arsenal that will leave his opponents knocked out or close to the road to losing consciounsness. I like his attitude and demeanor, he doesn’t go into the cage and stare people down and play intimidation games, he just minds his business and gets the job done. It’s the calm before the storm that was quite evident when he came out to a DOUBLE flying knee against Cub Swanson. The flying knee is one of the most dynamic moves in the sport of MMA, you wouldn’t think it would need embellishment or a more fancier approach to it. And you might not even be sure how you could improve on it, but Jose Aldo leapt to the occassion and put away Swanson in 8 seconds after rattling his American counterpart with knee brutal knees to this face.
Mike Brown is the kind of fighter who will test your heart and what you’re made of, and I hope that it is a brilliant fight that is back and forth. But I just think the striking advantage for Aldo is big and that advantage will lead to a new WEC featherweight champion being born in Jose Aldo.
