UFC 133: Rich Franklin off Philadelphia fight card
UFC 133 still has some intriguing fights. The main event will be in contention for “Fight of the Night” most likely as Rashad Evans and Tito Ortiz are expected to put on a good show in their battle at 205. Rory MacDonald is a fantastic prospect at welterweight and a potential champion down the line. He scored a tremendous victory over Nate Diaz in April at UFC 129 and also won 2 out of the 3 rounds against Carlos Condit in highly impressive fashion when the two collided in the UFC. Condit is a fighter that is also close to getting a title shot at the moment, which speaks volumes for MacDonald and his talent level. He takes on Mike Pyle, who is a hard-nosed and very well rounded MMA fighter. He’s a veteran in the game and brings a strong iron will and work ethic which as become synonymous with Xtreme Couture camp members. Brian Ebersole is also on the card, and his very unique style of attack is highly entertaining to watch. He’s a veteran of the game and to just jump in there on short notice to fight and defeat a solid fighter like Chris Lytle is a monumental achievement. His bout with the revitalized Dennis Halllman should be a fantastic tilt, and is now moved up to the main card as a result of the Franklin/Nog bout being scrapped from the card. Vitor Belfort against Yoshihiro Akiyama now becomes the co-main event for UFC 133, and has potential to be “Knockout of the Night.” No disrespect to “Sexyama”, but no matter how sexually fierce his swagger and nickname is, Vitor Belfort brings the heat within the confines of his clenched fists which rapidly attack most of his opponents he has ever stepped into the cage and competed against. Powerful and quick punches in addition to a desperate attempt to prove his worth at 185 may just be the fodder necessary to get Belfort back on the knockout trail at UFC 133 in Philadelphia.
