Mark Bocek has increased his popularity with his fantastic triangle choke win at UFC 124 in Montreal over Dustin Hazelett. Coming into the bout, Hazelett was revered as one of the most outstanding finishers in the world of MMA when it comes to BJJ technique. It was a really decisive and impressive triangle choke from the mount that Bocek hit, and then finished it from his back. It was high-level BJJ skill displayed by Bocek, and the normally silent Bocek felt it was time to throw his name into the hat as being the top BJJ player at 155, and called out George Sotiropoulos to prove it. Sotiropoulos is considered by many as the top BJJ guy at lightweight, and Bocek was looking to play matchmaker for himself by lobbying for a bout with the Aussie in Bocek’s hometown of Toronto at UFC 129 in April. As it turns it out, Bocek has been granted his wish by the UFC brass to fight in Toronto, however his opponent at UFC 129 will be former WEC lightweight competitor, Ben Henderson.
