Quinton “Rampage” Jackson self admittedly doesn’t like to get out there and train. He’ll whine and moan, but this time around Jackson has had extra incentive training for his bout at UFC 86 for Forrest Griffin, due to the fact Griffin is a super hard worker himself. “I come to fight and I train to win”, comments Rampage. “I trained my hardest in a long time because Forrest is a hard worker. I learned that about him. So I had to work hard.”
The two rivaled one another on The Ultimate Fighter 7 reality series and clash Saturday night at UFC 86 in Las Vegas.
CB Dolloway, who was armbarred last night in The Ultimate Finale versus Amir Sadollah, was confused as to how many taps equals a submission. “I was definitely thinking about tapping,” he said after the bout. “I did hit it once, but I thought the rule was you had to do it (more than once). Just as I hit once, I felt that I was in a position where I could get my arm out.”
Nonetheless the bout was stopped and Sadollah won the 6 figure contract.
Luigi Fiorovanti gave his thoughts to Sherdog.com about the ending of his bout with Diego Sanchez.
“I just got caught in the third round, he caught me with a knee. I wasn’t out, I was still awake, I took some punches on the ground and the ref decided to stop the fight because it looked like I didn’t defend myself but I was still coherent and was still able to fight on into the fight, I’ve got a head like a rock. “
Kendall Grove on fighting Evan Tanner, speaking in an interview at UFC.com:
“This is basically loser leaves town match..I had some mishaps, he had some mishaps. We’re coming together…fighting each other to stay in one of the best organizations in the world and that is the UFC; and I don’t want to lose my job.”

TUF 6 meets TUF 7 tonight in the “Battle of Matts” when Matt Arroyo (The Ultimate Fighter 6 vet) takes on Matt Brown (The Ultimate Fighter 7 vet). Arroyo feels his increased poise will allow him to showcase his skills and come through tonight. “I stay more relaxed. In the first fight I was tense from bell to bell. It was my second fight, and I had a sense of urgency to get to the ground as fast as possible because I was a Brazilian jiu jitsu fighter”, said Arroyo to MMAjunkie.com. “Now my Brazilian jiu jitsu for MMA is better. My wrestling, my striking — I’m just better overall. I have more experience due to being on “The Ultimate Fighter 6″ and training with Matt Serra.”
Josh Burkman tells MMAweekly.com he’s either going to finish off Dustin Hazelett tonight or retire. “No more decisions. I’m going to do everything I possibly can to make sure this fight doesn’t go to a decision”, says Burkman. “I’ll even retire if it does go to a decision. I can’t have them anymore.”
From MMAfighting.com:
“He’s a brawler. I’m not saying he’s a sloppy brawler, but he has some good things that he does with his striking. He has some footwork. He has some skills that he does pretty well. But it’s also his clever punches, man. That’s dangerous, he definitely has some power in his hands. That’s also something that I’m aware of. The last guy that I fought, David Bielkheden, also had some strong hands, some clever punches. That’s something I have trained for before and I’m ready to fight again. Nothing new.”
