UFC Tribute to Mask from Tapout
This was a great and inspirational tribute to Mask “Charles Lewis, from Tapout, who passed away recently in a car accident.
Two quotes stand out most.
1. “Anyone that has ever fought for Tapout will know I told them this, “I don’t care if you win your next 10p or lose them all, I’m going to support you and back you unconditionally, because you’re a warrior.”
That’s absolutely the sign of a true mixed martial arts fan. Win, lose or draw completely appreciates the heart, dedication, sacrifice and courage that every mixed martial arts fighter has.
2. “At the end of the day that’s what everything is about, that somebody would be just a little happier because you’re here.”
“Mask” obviously was much much more than just a founder of a clothing line, he was a great person and highly inspirational and influential. It’s no wonder his passing away made huge news and waves not only in the mixed martial arts world, but way beyond as well.
More Expansion of MMA in India
From DNA Online:
Close to a month from now, India too will witness something close to a fight night for the first time and you could well witness the mixed martial art (MMA) form here. Full Contact Championship (FCC), an initiative by Prashant Kumar – a professional MMA exponent, will host the first fight night in Mumbai in April.
“The fight night culture doesn’t exist in India. There is a desperate need in India to provide talented fighters with a platform to perform. Also, sporting entertainment need not be restricted to cricket alone in our country. MMA Fight Nights will open up a new and exciting avenue in the area of sporting entertainment,” Kumar said.
Down the line the UFC wants to go to India, this might be some good groundwork to help make that happen down the line.

The deal calls for more than 52 hours of mixed martial arts coverage, including four live televised events, as well as episodes of “UFC Wired” and “UFC Unleashed.” “Wired” will be hosted by Rej Laplanche and Montreal middleweight Patrick Cote.
The first UFC event on TQS will be the April 1 UFC show from Nashville, Tenn., shown same day tape-delay at 10:30 p.m. ET.
WWE’s Vince McMahon on the UFC: “they are not competition to us at all”

The Hollywood Reporter recently conducted an interview with WWE chairman Vince McMahon, and asked him the following on the Ultimate Fighting Championship:
THR: How has the success of UFC and other mixed martial arts programming impacted you?
McMahon: Most people thought at one point that we would be competitors. But it turns out they are not competition to us at all, or hardly at all. They are sport, we are entertainment; it’s a huge difference. The revenue they have cut into is that of boxing.
UFC jewelry
The Ultimate Fighting Championship, the premier brand in mixed martial arts, today announced a strategic partnership with Skeletal Metal LLC (SKM), creator of surgical steel jewelry, to launch the first ever UFC branded jewelry. Available through UFCstore.com, the UFC line launches today with Men’s bracelets styled after the famed UFC® Octagon™.
UFC President Dana White, wearing the black Octagon Bracelet, announced the deal earlier today at the UFC 94 weigh-in event inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
“UFC is always pushing the edge when it comes to innovation in our brand,” said Dana White, UFC President. “When we wanted to create a line of UFC jewelry, we immediately turned to Skeletal Metal here in Las Vegas to design pieces that fit the UFC lifestyle and convey the excitement and energy of our sport.”
“Joining forces with the world leader in mixed martial arts to develop a new line of UFC jewelry was an easy decision for us,” said Dr. Mike Crovetti, Skeletal Metal Founder and CEO. “UFC represents a powerful demographic all over the world, and exciting new opportunities for the SKM brand.”
The Octagon bracelet is made from an actual surgical steel reconstruction plate used in orthopaedic surgery to secure broken bones. This plate has been ion plated in black for a sleek, cutting-edge look. The UFC will market the Octagon jewelry line on television, in UFC catalogues, online at UFC.com and at UFC live events. Men’s Octagon bracelets are available now via UFCstore.com for $139 (Polish/silver) and $159 (Black). Women’s Black and Polish Octagon bracelets will be available in the near future.
The Octagon line is the first of an extensive line of UFC products to be produced under the strategic partnership, which includes the support of UFC in the marketing, sales and distribution of the Skeletal Metal products.
