Jason Mayhem Miller on his partnership with Airwalk

Tell us about your partnership with Airwalk   Let’s not even call it a partnership, shall we? Let’s call it a brotherhood. A brotherhood of the travelling pants, if you will. Because now I’m working with Airwalk, and Airwalk selected me, even though they have all the choices…

MMA Fighter Bios: RASHAD EVANS

RASHAD EVANS

BORN: Niagara Falls, New York
5’11, light heavyweight

A national junior college champion wrestler, Rashad Evans transferred into MMA in 2000. He won 5 straight fights and won the Gladiator Challenge Light Heavyweight Tournament. He was selected to be on The Ultimate Fighter 2 reality series on Spike, but found himself being the underdog in each of his fights. Nonetheless, he won them all by defeating Tom Murphy, Mike Whitehead, and future teammate, Keith Jardine. In the finale of the reality series, Evans defeated the 6 foot 7 Brad Imes by split decision, and won the reality series tourney and landed in the UFC.
Evans decided 205 would be the most appropriate weight class for Evans and fought his first fight at light-heavyweight and was victorious over Sam Hoger. After defeating Stephan Bonnar, Evans defeated Jason Lambert with an impressive knockout from the mount in round 2.
While his wrestling solid, nobody anticipated Evans would turn into a knockout artist as he put Sean Salmon out cold with a vicious headkick in the headlining bout at UFC Fight Night. Taking on Tito Ortiz would be Evans next challenge, and he would fight the former 205 pound champ in the UFC to a draw. Gaining confidence from hanging in there with a veteran champ, Evans took on another undefeated fighter and TUF reality series winner, Michael Bisping. It was another very close bout for Evans, but he would get the split decision nod and improve his record to 11-0-1.
Coming in as an underdog against Chuck Liddell, once again Evans shocked fans with a spectacular knockout over Liddell, which left the former UFC champ out cold for several minutes.
Evans’ impressive win over Liddell would be enough for him to get a shot at the light-heavyweight belt owned at the time by Forrest Griffin. Although Griffin was doing well in a purely standup fight against Evans, in the third round Evans dropped Griffin and continued to punish Griffin and eventually put him away and become the new UFC light-heavyweight champion.
The 13-0-1 undefeated champion would take on another undefeated and hungry fighter in Lyoto Machida. “The Dragon” Machida would prove to be too skills and unreadable to get a handle on as he overwhelmed Evans with a flurry of accurate punches and put away Evans via knockout.
But with a championship heart and tremendous dedication, we are sure to see Evans return back stronger than ever and continue to flourish as one of the best fighters of all time.
