Jason Mayhem Miller on his partnership with Airwalk
Tell us about your partnership with Airwalk
Let’s not even call it a partnership, shall we? Let’s call it a brotherhood. A brotherhood of the travelling pants, if you will. Because now I’m working with Airwalk, and Airwalk selected me, even though they have all the choices of anybody who they want to pick because I have the fearlessless that it takes to be on Airwalk. This is a life-long dream of mine and I really wish my skateboard was here to see this.
Did you grow up wearing the brand?
Yeah, but I didn’t have any money. I had two different pairs of Airwalks, one was like my church Airwalks that I could wear looking like nice, and the other one was just destroyed from skateboarding, I had duct tape all over the left foot..they were just abused. It gives me fond memories of how high I heralded the shoe when I was 14-15 years old and how far I’ve come since then.
So you’ve been a fan for a long time?
I feel like almost like I’ve been like alternative culture since I was a little kid, like I was just fascinated by what was not the norm. Almost to the point of being that kid where I would almost get angry once these underground brands made it and now I realize that we’re living the dream, let’s continue to live the dream. If a company does good and makes it I feel we should herald them for that instead of being hipster and too cool for it.
What are you going to be doing with Airwalk in terms of events and reaching out to people?
We’re going to do some awesome things, some next level things, some outreach to the masses. I feel like it’s going to be, for a lack of a better word, a marketing campaign that the world has not seen. It’s going to be a unique to the fans of mixed martial arts, to the fans of living fearless.
